The Consumer Electronics Show may be over, however the announcements Samsung made last week in Las Vegas was just a glimpse for consumers to see where technology and innovation are headed in 2010. Some of the highlights include:
• Announcement of Samsung, DreamWorks and Technicolor global strategic alliance for the delivery of a complete 3-D home entertainment solution in 2010.
• Samsung’s 3D television product line introduction. A number of screen sizes on a variety of display technology platforms, including LED, LCD and plasma.
• 3D was the biggest story at CES 2010 and Samsung’s BD-C6900 will be part of the first crop of Blu-ray players to support the cutting edge technology.
• In addition, Samsung's premium HDTV line, the slim and sleek 9000 series includes a 3-inch touch-screen remote with Wi-Fi integration. This touch-screen remote not only controls the TV and other AV devices, but also doubles as a secondary display for watching broadcast content on the palm of your hand or displaying music, photos, and video files from the remote onto the television.
• E-Readers: Samsung unveiled a pair of wireless e-readers and a partnership with Google Books. Consumers will be able to write directly on the screen, making annotations with an electromagnetic resonance stylus pen so that they can write and share information wirelessly. .
• Finally, the experience of watching television was revolutionized at CES this year with Samsung tapping into the trend by announcing the launch of an app store for HDTVs. Consumers will be able to purchase and download applications in the realms of video, information, lifestyle, games and sports for use on 2010 Samsung HDTVs, Blu-ray Players and Home Theater systems. Content partners will include: Accedo Broadband, AccuWeather.com, The Associated Press, Blockbuster, Fashion TV, Netflix, Picasa, Pandora, Rovi, Travel Channel, Twitter, USA TODAY and Vudu.
