Samsung Mobile Announces Upcoming Availability of the Samsung Omnia® II™
November 23, 2009

Samsung Mobile today announced the availability of the Samsung Omnia® II™, a full-touch all-in-one smartphone powered by Windows Mobile® 6.5 to keep customers connected to their corporate and personal e-mail accounts and synchronized with their schedules and contacts. The Omnia II will be available beginning Dec. 2 for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement from Verizon Wireless.

The Omnia II features a 3.7” AMOLED responsive touch screen, one of the brightest and clearest displays on a mobile phone in the United States, a virtual QWERTY keyboard with Swype technology that allows customers to input text faster and easier with one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard and Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional, which keeps customers connected with corporate and personal e-mail and synchronization of schedules and contacts.

The Omnia II is also Samsung’s first device in the United States to feature the Samsung Widget Store, which provides customers with the ability to download hundreds of free widgets to their handsets. Additional features of the Omnia II include full HTML Web browsing capabilities with Opera 9.5 enhanced browser, access to social networking applications, including YouTube™, Facebook® and MySpace, with Samsung’s unique TouchWiz™ 2.0 user interface and a 5.0 megapixel camera with flash and auto-focus and camcorder and decoder with DNSe technology and on-device editing capabilities.

Thank you for being a fan of the Omnia II. All updates will come directlyf from Samsung Mobile or Verizon Wireless. Samsung Mobile does not recommend installing untested software, as well as software from unknown sources, as it could impact the integrity of your phone.

Why after making Omnia 2 fans wait for so many months, has Samsung not updated its own Omnia 2 page or send out the "Be the first to know" email! This phone is finally due for release tomorrow, so much for the promised "Advanced Updates". After the investment Samsung must have made for the world version of the Omnia 2 and then the Verizon specific model it is incredible that more information has not been forthcoming. Why has this phone not been placed in the hands of CNET and other reviewers? Are you folks secretly working for AT&T or Apple?

Will the Verizon version have a forward facing camera, Dual flash, Unlocked GPS that works with 3rd party apps (instead of just VZ Navigator)? Is this a different case from the GSM version. The shape looks more rounded top and bottom like the Rogue. Are there any disabled onboard features that the GSM version has accessible?
