Tip 2: Using your flash on a sunny day
Using your camera’s fill flash on a sunny day is an easy way to improve your photos.
The sun can make taking great photos a challenge, especially if it’s directly overhead or behind your subject. When the sun is directly overhead, it can cast harsh shadows and obscure your subjects’ faces. Turning on your camera’s fill flash in this scenario will allow you to lighten any shadows to better capture their smiling faces.
When the sun is behind your subject, it can easily trick your camera into thinking there’s plenty of light, which may result in an underexposed image. Using your fill flash in this scenario will give you the ability to properly expose both your subject and the background so that your photo will really stand out with the detail that you want!
Some digital cameras also feature a Backlight scene mode. Selecting this scene mode will automatically program your digital camera to take the best photos possible.
If you have a Samsung digital camera, selecting which flash setting you want your camera to use is as easy as pushing one button. Find the little lightning bolt which is located on the left side of your camera’s five-way mode dial. Pressing this button will allow you to scroll through and select the appropriate flash setting for the camera.
Selecting the right scene mode is also easy to do. For example, if you’re using the Samsung SL420, turn the menu dial on the back of the camera to “SCENE” and then select “BACKLIGHT.”
Check out the Samsung Digital Imaging Facebook page in the meantime for more information.
