Pico Projector video peek
January 9, 2009

Maybe we're sentimental, or just easily excitable, but we're still pretty jazzed about our Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award — so much in fact that we had Kim Titus run through the Samsung MBP 200 Pico Projector in this video that addresses many of the questions that you all have asked, and hopefully answers a lot of questions have not yet been asked.

Let us know what you think.

Thanks for your interest in the MBP200. It does support PowerPoint files. When an official launch date for a U.S. version of the device is set, we will have additional information.

The MBP200 is not a phone, but rather a standalone pico projector. The MBP200’s battery has a play time of up to 2 hours and 40 minutes. The launch date and price have not been determined in the U.S.

Hi friends:\r\n This little device looks like it could be a reasonable solution for the boardroom, class room, and living room with a picture sized as large as 50 inches max. The demonstration was typical salesman's talk without an actual demonstration of the projected image ! This fact throws up a red flag to me ! Hello ? we're not stupid you know ! I'm in love with the "concept," but I need to see projected quality of the image (Particularily @ the 50 inch size.\r\n1. What is the projected aspect ratio attainable @ 50 inches ?\r\n2. What is the projected image contrast ratio ?\r\n3. What is the wattage strength of the internal light source ?\r\n4. What is the street price ?\r\n5. Availability ?

I'll keep my enthusisam on a low boil until I can actually see how it works as a projector. Otherwise it is just an expencive PSP.

While the demonstration of the Pico projector as a media player was interesting there was no demonstration of how it works as a projector. I think it could be useful to the educator, consultant, or trainer it the imaqe quality and brightness were adequate.

Thanks. The Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector looks AWESOME. Can it be used for the following?\r\n\r\n1 - Make PowerPoint 2004 presentations on Mac OS X 10.5.6.\r\n2 - Transfer the NATIVE (.ppt) presentations files to the Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector.\r\n3 - Bring the Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector to the classroom, congress or meeting.\r\n4 - Perform a computerless presentation from the Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector.\r\n\r\nAnd I mean NATIVE presentation files (no conversions or export-to-slideshow or export-to-video-stream). That includes true transitions, video or whatever. In other words, the very same experience as when using a laptop for the presentation.\r\n\r\nOn the other hand, can the Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector be used to play and project NATIVE Apple QuickTime movies (.mov) and flash (.flv) movies?
