Samsung Adds "Touch Of Color" Design To Latest HDTV Lines
April 23, 2008

Inspired by Nature and Advancements in the Automotive and Fashion Industries, Samsung Introduces Dual-Injection Technology to TV and Select Home Theater Products

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J., April 23, 2008 - Samsung Electronics, the market leader in HDTV design and innovation, is bringing a "Touch of Color" to the HDTV industry.   Featured in the new Series 6 and 7 flat-panel televisions and select home theater systems, Samsung's "Touch of Color" (ToCTM) design creates a subtle red and black gradation naturally blended into the traditional piano-black TV bezel, evoking the elegance and emotion of a beautiful sunset.  The inspiration behind the development of TOC stretches across several artistic arenas, from the craftsmanship of Venetian glassware and oriental pottery to the striking clarity of natural glass, culminating in an HDTV design that blurs the line between technology and art.

"Samsung is proud to offer consumers a distinct alternative that stands out in a sea of black offerings," said John Revie, senior vice president of Visual Display Marketing at Samsung Electronics America. "TOC is just the latest step in our company's commitment to constantly introduce innovative designs along with innovative technologies.  Developed from years of research and design, specifically in the design-conscious automotive and fashion industries, we hope our "Touch of Color" design can redefine the role HDTVs play in the home by holding both entertainment and artistic value."

As the first TV manufacturer to use dual-injection technology, a process used in the design of premium automobiles since 2002 where color is embedded not with paint or dye but with material, Samsung changed the materials and techniques used to traditionally produce TVs. By controlling the density of the transparent and opaque material used in the process, the TOC bezel takes on a crystal-like quality which changes among different levels of natural light. The overall effect of this is a "Touch of Color" that glows beneath a smooth, transparent surface like gentle red light shining beneath a placid pool.  The color evolves subtly depending on the lighting of the surrounding environment with more light enhancing the richness of the red and less light subduing the color's brilliance.  Featuring material that moves with the light of any room and decor to harmonize any environment is a quality that no other HDTV in the market can claim.

Expanding from HDTVs to the entire home theater, Samsung's HT-X710 and HT-X7125 home theater-in-a-box systems also feature Samsung's TOC design, allowing consumers to coordinate their HD products with a "Touch of Color".
